Thousand Character Classic
The Thousand Character Classic or Essay of One Thousand Characters is a Chinese poem used as a primer for teaching Chinese characters to children. It contains exactly one thousand unique characters.
It is said that Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty commissioned Zhou Xingsi(周興嗣, 470~521) to compose this poem for his prince to practice calligraphy, about 1500 years ago. Even since, the essay has become one of the most popular literacy texts in China.
In this application, we add audio, explanation and calligraphy of Deng, Shiru(1743~1805). Its helpful to learn the Thousand Character Classic and Chinese calligraphy.
